Detailed Itinerary
  Day 1: Arrival in Vientiane:
Upon arrival in Vientiane you will be transferred to your hotel. Spend the rest of the afternoon and evening getting your bearings around the Capital city.

Overnight in Vientiane.
  Day 2: Vientiane City Tour (B, L):
After breakfast we embark on a Vientiane city tour, first starting by visiting Wat Sisaket with its thousands of miniature Buddha statues. Stop at Wat Simuang and Wat Prakeo, which was the original home of the famous Emerald Buddha, which today resides in Bangkok. Visit the huge golden That Luang monument, which all Lao citizens respect as the Holy Pagoda. On the way to the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, we stop to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument - known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph. This was built at the end of the Indochina wars with money rumoured to be American, and was earmarked for the airport’s new runway.

In the evening relax and spend overnight in Vientiane.
  Day 3: Vientiane – Vang Vieng (B, L):
After breakfast we set out for the drive to Vang Vieng, about 3 hours from the capital. Once a key military airfield during the Indochina wars, the town’s central feature is the long-abandoned runway along the eastern side of town. On the west side, a small river separates the town from the nearby caves & mountains, which can easily be visited from town. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant en route, and after arriving you can explore Vang Vieng and get a feeling for the town.
Day 4: Vang Vieng – Market – Tham Jang Caves – Luang Prabang (B, L):
After breakfast at hotel, we visit the local market looking for a bargain. After which we make our way to the Tham Jang caves system which flows a crystal clear stream.

Drive to Luang Prabang, the drive passes through splendid countryside scenery and past many panoramic lookout points on the winding mountaintop road. Arriving in Luang Prabang you will check into the hotel and enjoy exploring the former royal capital & crown jewel of the ancient Lane Xang Empire (pronounced ‘Lan Sang’) – the ‘Land of a Million Elephants’. In the evening there is a host of things for you to see around the city, including an interesting and good sized market.
  Day 5: Luang Prabang Sights (B, L):
After Breakfast we make a visit to Wat Visoun, the site of the impressive Thad Makmo Stupa. Observe how the rounded dome is styled more Sinhalese than Lao. Continue to visit Wat Mai. Built in 1796, the five-tiered roof of the wooden Sim (chapel) epitomizes the graceful Luang Prabang architectural style. Wat XiengThong further emphasizes the uniqueness of Luang Prabang, its several roofs sweeping low to the ground. See also the impressive "tree of life" mosaics here. The gilt panel on the exterior of the chapel depicts semi-erotic episodes from the Ramayana. Climb up Phou Sii hill which stands right in the center of this small city, its 350 steps leading to a commanding view for many miles in each direction. Wat Phu Sii sits on top of the mountain.

In the evening we make our way to shop at the Hmong market, where hundreds of Hmong vendors famously display their handmade handicraft. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 6: Luang Prabang – Mekong River – Pak Ou Caves – Luang Prabang (B, L):
After breakfast we go to the National Museum, once the king's palace. Displayed inside is a lovely collection of personal artifacts of the royal family, including photos, musical instruments, and many gifts received from the dignitaries of foreign countries. Begin a Mekong Riverboat trip with your guide on the mighty Mekong River to visit the famous & sacred Pak Ou Buddha Caves. These caves, overlooking the confluence of the Mekong & Ou Rivers from on high, have been home to many thousands of Buddha images that were placed here by local people since 16th century. When King Setthathirat found the caves he declared them a holy spot. On return visit Por Sa Paper Handicraft & textile area at Ban Xang Khong.

Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 7: Luang Prabang - Kuang Sii Falls (B, L):
After breakfast drive out of town to the beautiful KuangSii Falls. Located around 30km out of the town; it is a great place to swim, relax, or trek to the top of the falls. After a couple of hours we start our return to Luang Prabang, making a short stop at Black Hmong Village, well known as the place where hill tribes make handicraft as souvenirs for visitors passing by.
  Day 8: Luang Prabang Departure:
In the morning enjoy breakfast and wait for our driver to collect you for your transfer to the airport. Your fantastic Laos experience is now at an end.

Trip note
  • As this tour involves some trekking – guests should be in reasonably good health – and bring walking equipment.
  • There are many picturesque settings visited on our tours in Laos – Be sure to bring your Camera!
  • Guests should be aware there will be visits to various places of worship, which may require respectful dress and behavior. Female visitors must often wear clothes covering much of their skin – and nothing too revealing.
  • A woman of any nationality is not permitted to touch a monk of any age, or even hand something directly to a monk. However striking up a conversation with a monk is fine.
  • Visitors don’t need any special vaccinations to enter Laos, but it’s wise to ensure you are up to date with standard inoculations before you arrive.

Attention: The itinerary may be subject to change due to the unfavorable weather conditions
