Detailed Itinerary
  Day 1: Arrival in Luang prabang:   
Welcome to Luang prabang! Upon arrival, your guide will be waiting to help transfer you to your hotel. You have the evening to get your first look around the city; enjoying the night time buzz around the main street and trying some of the local foods.

Overnight is spent in Luang prabang.
  Day 2: Luang Prabang city tour (B, D):   
After breakfast we venture out to discover the sights and sounds of the city itself, visiting the National museum, the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrines of Wat Aham and Wat Mai. Late afternoon we go for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred Mount Phousi, taking in the beautiful sunset over Luang Prabang and the Mekong River.

In the evening delve into the Night Market, where you can find extensive collections of handmade textiles from the local tribe people.

Overnight is spent in Luang Prabang.
  Day 3: Luang Prabang - Nong Khiau - Muang Ngoy (B):   
Today we will make our way to Muang Ngoy, the serene and quiet town in northern Laos where many come and never want to leave. It is only accessible by boat, and with no internet, and only 3 hours of electricity each day, it gives you an experience of living like the local country people. We drive to Nong Khiau, where you will board your boat for Muang Ngou – taking around 1.5 hours cruising. Check into your guesthouse and enjoy the relaxing evening – walking around the friendly and peaceful village.
  Day 4: Muang Ngoy - Trekking Kang Cave - Nong Khiau (B):   
After breakfast, we start trekking along the buffalo trail for about 2hours to reach Kang cave, where locals spent a while hiding during the Indochina War. After a walk through the cave we trek back to town, enjoy lunch while observing your last images of the town, and begin a boat trip back to Nong Khiau.
  Day 5: Nong Khiau - Pak Ou Cave - Luang Prabang (B, L):   
After breakfast, Begin a 5 hour boat trip downstream to Luang Prabang. En route we make a stop at the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes. Along the way, we stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where they distill the local rice wine. After lunch we take a short drive to Ban Xang Khong, famous for its hand weaving. The evening is spent at your leisure.
  Day 6: Luang Prabang - Kuang Sii Falls (B):   
After breakfast drive out of town to the beautiful Kuang Sii Falls. Located around 30km out of the town; it is a great place to swim, relax, or trek to the top of the falls. After a couple of hours we start our return to Luang Prabang, making a short stop at Black Hmong Village, well known as the place where hill tribes make handicraft as souvenirs for visitors passing by.
  Day 7: Luang Pranbang - Xieng Khuang (B):   
Today we are taking the long 6 hour drive to Xieng khouang, giving you an opportunity to relax while watching the Laos countryside whiz by. This area was devastated by American bombing between 1964 and 1973. Upon arrival, we transfer you to your hotel. Spend the evening relaxing and enjoying the quiet ambiance of Phonesavanh.
  Day 8: Xieng Khuang exploring (B):   
In the morning we venture out to explore the Plain of Jars, an impressive archaeological site where hundreds of large stone jars are littered all over the plateau. We also have time in the afternoon to see the old capital of Muang Khoun and some small villages that are home to the Hmong hill tribe and Tai Dam people, who will revel in sharing their interesting local cultures and colorful history. Overnight in Phonsavanh.
  Day 9: Xieng Khuang - Vang Vieng (B):   
After breakfast we drive ahead to Vang Vieng, once a key military airfield during the Indochina wars. The town’s central feature is the long-abandoned runway along the eastern side of town. On the west side, a small river separates the town from the nearby caves & mountains, which can easily be visited from town. Upon arrival check in at your hotel, and spend the evening at your leisure. Overnight in Vang Vieng.
  Day 10: Vang Vieng tour (B):   
After a short breakfast we set out to tour around Vang Vieng’s favorite attractions like the Organic Mulberry Farm and Jang cave, amongst others. After lunch you can enjoy a one hour boat trip along the Song river which provides a stunning view of the town. The rest of the day you are free to relax. Overnight in Vang Vieng.
  Day 11: Vang Vieng – Vientiane (B):   
After breakfast we drive to Vientiane, around a 3 hour drive, stopping en route at Hmong market at KM 52. Upon arrival in Vientiane, check in at your hotel and spend the evening getting your bearings and first impressions of the capital city. Overnight in Vientiane.
  Day 12: Vientiane Tour (B):   
After breakfast we start visiting the major sights of the capital; including the old Wat Sisaket - the temple known for having thousands of miniature Buddha statues - and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image.

On the way to the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, we stop to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument - known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph. To end the days exploring we stop at the Textile Village of Ban Nong Buathong. Overnight in Vientiane.
  Day 13: Vientiane – Pakse - Boliven Plateua - Tadlo (B):   
Early morning transfer to Wattay Airport for a flight to Pakse. You will be met and driven to Saravanh province via Tateng - the stumbling water and lush vegetation area around Tad Fan waterfall. We make a stop en route to observe the traditional locals making tea and coffee, after tasting we continue on to the Boloven Plateau area. Enjoy being out in the open countryside where you can see the cultivation of coffee, tea, cardamom, bananas and other crops.

When we arrive at Tad Lo Waterfall, we stop by several small villages occupied by some of the country’s ethnic minorities. Return to town late in the afternoon and spend the rest of the night in Pakse.
  Day 14: Pakse – Wat Phou – Don Khong (B):   
After breakfast, we head out towards Khong Island, crossing the Mekong by ferry to visit the pre-angkorian ruins of Wat Phu - one of Southeast Asia's most dramatically situated temples and a UNSECO World Heritage site since 2001. This wonderful archeological site of Khmer civilization dates back to the 9th century.

We continue our way to the 4000 islands region by land and catch a ferry motor boat to Don Khong. Overnight in Don Khong.
  Day 15: Don Khong – Khone Island (B):   
After Breakfast, we enjoy a visit of the surrounding countryside, boarding a long trail boat touring to Khone Island - home to many remains of French period – as well as a stop at Liphi Waterfall or "the Corridor of the Devil". Overnight in Khone Island
  Day 16: Free Day on Khone Island (B) :   
Today, after all the travelling of the last few days – you are free to relax at your leisure. Overnight in Khone Island.
  Day 17: Khone - Pakse (B):   
After breakfast, we return to the mainland at the small fishing village of Ban Nakasang, and drive further south to visit Khone Phapheng, the biggest waterfall in the South East Asia. Together with its lush surrounding vegetation, teaming wildlife and its location very close to the Lao-Cambodian border - it showcases a beautifully picturesque scene. Return to Pakse later afternoon. Overnight in Pakse.
  Day 18: Pakse Departure (B):   
After breakfast, transfer to Pakse airport for your departure.

  • There are many picturesque settings visited on our tours in Laos – Be sure to bring your Camera!
  • Guests should be aware there will be visits to various places of worship, which may require respectful dress and behavior. Female visitors must often wear clothes covering much of their skin – and nothing too revealing.
  • A woman of any nationality is not permitted to touch a monk of any age, or even hand something directly to a monk. However striking up a conversation with a monk is fine.
  • Visitors don’t need any special vaccinations to enter Laos, but it’s wise to ensure you are up to date with standard inoculations before you arrive.
